Does hot showers cause hair loss ???

In addition to heavy exercise, wearing hats and sleeping position causing hair loss, you can add hot showers causing hair loss to the list of hair loss and balding myths. Hot water alone cannot cause hair loss. Boiling water, on the other hand, could cause hair loss because of the damage it can do to one’s scalp, causing hair follicles to weaken and hair to fall out. However, most of the  people do not wash their hair using water that is hot enough to damage the scalp. Scalp needs moisture and nourishment.

Washing your hair with hot water cleans your scalp and washes away oils in your hair more effectively than cold water, and has no effect on your rate of hair growth or your hair growth patterns.  However, washing your hair with water that is too hot can dry out your hair and scalp, making hair brittle and more prone to breakage.  When you wash your hair in water that’s too hot, you also remove more oil from your scalp which can lead to an overproduction of oil that can damage your hair at the root and cause excess shedding.
If you wash your hair too frequently, your hair may become dry and frizzy as a result of the natural oils being stripped away; therefore, it is important to determine how often you should wash your hair depending on hair type. People with thicker, oily hair may want to wash their hair more often than someone with thin, dry hair. In addition, those with oily hair may want to wash their hair with hotter water to get rid of sebum oil from the scalp than those with normal or dry hair.
To protect your hair, try to wash your hair in warm water instead of hot and rinse with cooler temperatures to seal moisture into your hair and prevent breakage.  Brushing or combing wet hair should also be avoided because it can cause strands to snap and break; try detangling your hair before you step into the water and gently blot it with a towel to dry it.

what should be your everyday routine for hairs???

Trying to look after your hair and get all that everyday stuff done you need to do, as well as look after your friends and family, can be a difficult balancing act. We want to have great hair; but unfortunately, shiny, healthy hair doesn't just happen without a little bit of effort. So, you need to start up your day with healthy hair tips.

Step #1: Brush Your Hair

It may seem like the obvious thing to do, but you may need to know that brushing keeps your hair tangle free and distributes its natural oils throughout the hair. This promotes healthy growth and shine.

Step #2: Wash Your Hair

How often you wash your hair depends on your hair type and texture. Work out what's best for you by seeing how your hair reacts to washing and hair care products, and develop a schedule from there. For instance:
Your hair is coarse/dry if it often feels brittle- this means you only need to wash it every second or third day.
Your hair is fine/oily if it feels greasy the day after you wash it- this means you need to wash it daily.
Your hair is normal if you wash it one day and it's not too greasy the next- this means you can get away with washing it every other day.
Shampoo Tips
Remember to shampoo in small, circular movements; don't forget to target dirt collecting areas such as the nape of your neck.
Massaging your scalp will increase blood flow which encourages growth and will stimulate your hair's natural oils (producing shiny locks).
Coarse/dry hair will benefit from hydrating shampoos.
Fine/oily hair should be washed with a clear shampoo (one that doesn't look creamy).
Normal hair can use just about any type of shampoo- just remember to always use good quality products for the best results.
Conditioner Tips
Similar to body lotion for your skin, conditioner is moisturizer for your hair and will keep your strands hydrated and manageable.
For an even application  use your hands and a wide-toothed comb.
If you've got coarse/dry hair try a hydrating conditioner and apply it right from your roots to your ends.
For fine/oily hair use a lightweight conditioner and avoid putting it on your roots (evenly distribute it from the mid-lengths to the ends).
For normal hair you can use just about any kind of conditioner, applied from your roots to your ends also.

Step #3: Apply Less Hair Styling Products

If you have a hairstyle that needs to use hair products, hairspray for hold, wax for hold and shine, or serum for shine  then don't use too much! You might end up weighing your hair down and reducing its volume, or just making it greasy and dirty.
Also, don't forget to protect your hair. If you style your hair with a hair straightener or blow dryer, it's very important to protect your hair with heat protecting products, and to give your hair a break every few days from the stress of using hair accessories and hair styling tools.

Step #4: Style Your Hair

Everyone styles their hair, whether they're elaborate updos, professional looking hairdos for work, or casual wash-and-wear looks. Styling is required daily and should be done as gently as possible.

Step #5: Brush Your Hair Again at Night

Brushing your hair again at night will help you to untangle any knots that made their way into your locks during the day.

Step #6: Secure Your Hair at Night

Securing your hair at night with a simple ponytail or plait will make sure your locks don't get snagged or tangled as you sleep.
There you have it, a simple daily routine (and some great hair care tips). It's not hard to follow, it won't have you spending all of your hard earned cash, and most importantly, you wil get your hair in the best condition possible.

FEMALE PATTERN BALDNESS

Female pattern baldness involves a typical pattern of #hairloss in women, due to hormones, aging, and genes.

Causes

A hair grows from its follicle at an average rate of about 1/2 inch per month. Each hair grows for 2 to 6 years, then rests, and then falls out. A new hair soon begins growing in its place.
Baldness occurs when hair falls out and normal new hair does not grow in its place. The reason for female pattern baldness can be  related to:

  • Aging

  • Changes in the levels of androgens (male hormones). For example, after reaching menopause, many women find that the hair on their head is thinner, while the hair on their face is coarser.

  • Family history of male or female pattern baldness

Hair loss can occur in women for reasons other than female pattern baldness, including the following:
  • Breaking of hair (from treatments and twisting or pulling of hair, or hair shaft abnormalities that are present from birth)
  • Certain skin diseases that lead to scarring of the hair follicles
  • Certain autoimmune diseases

  • Hormone problems, such as too much testosterone, or too much or too little thyroid hormone
  • Too little iron
  • Too little vitamin B (biotin) or other vitamin deficiency
  • Medications such as chemotherapy and beta blockers
  • Patchy hair loss (alopecia areata )
  • Syphilis, a sexually transmitted infection
  • Temporary shedding of hair after a major illness, surgery, or pregnancy

Symptoms

Hair thinning is different from that of male pattern baldness. In female pattern baldness:
  • Hair thins mainly on the top and crown of the scalp. It usually starts with a widening through the center hair part.
  • The front hairline remains
  • The hair loss rarely progresses to total or near total baldness, as it may in men
Itching or skin sores on the scalp are generally NOT seen.

Exams and Tests

Female pattern baldness is usually diagnosed based on:
  • Ruling out other causes of hair loss
  • The appearance and pattern of hair loss
  • Your medical history
Our doctor  @cosmoworldclinics  will examine you for other signs of too much male hormone (androgen), such as:
  • Abnormal new hair growth, such as on the face or between the belly button and pubic area.
  • Changes in menstrual periods and enlargement of the clitoris
  • New acne
A skin biopsy or other procedures or blood tests may be used to diagnose skin disorders that cause hair loss.

MYTHS AND TRUTH ABOUT HAIR LOSS

#Hairloss is a common condition that can happen to anyone. But people believe in some myths and these myths lead to a lot of people believing that they can actually prevent their hair loss by using these techniques.
Some myths and truth behind hair loss that can be highlighted so that  we can help people understand more about hair loss and why it affects some people.

MYTH: Washing hair in cold water will prevent baldness
TRUTH: Washing your hair with cold water may increase blood circulation, but it will not prevent baldness
There are some benefits to washing your hair in cold water, such as frizz prevention and cuticle tightening. However, there are no direct associations between washing your hair in cold water and baldness prevention.
MYTH: Wearing a hat will cause baldness
TRUTH: Hair follicles don’t need to breathe as they get their oxygen from the blood
The only cause of baldness from hats is if you wear one that exerts excessive tension or friction on your head. Hair follicles don’t need to breathe on the exterior, meaning that you can wear a hat 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Hats will not cause hair loss.
MYTH:Regular brushing of the hair and scalp will prevent hair loss
TRUTH: Brushing will boost circulation but will not stop balding
In fact, brushing your hair too much may cause injury, which will lead to hair loss. Many assume that boosting blood circulation in your head will make balding hair re-grow. But, in fact, this is not true.
MYTH: Cutting your hair will not prevent hair loss
TRUTH: Your hair feels thicker after a haircut but it does not prevent hair loss
Your hair might feel lusciously thick after visiting a salon but that does not mean cutting it prevents hair loss. The hair follicles only appear that way simply because the hair shaft is thicker near the roots. Also shorter hair tends to have more lift which gives the impression of thickness and volume.
MYTH: Hair loss comes from the mother’s side
TRUTH: It is often genetic but comes from both parents
Many people believe that hair loss is passed down from the mother’s side. While the X chromosome (which you get from your mother) is  key gene for baldness, it is not the only genetic factor. Men who have bald fathers also have an increased chance of going bald. Baldness in general is usually genetically determined.

Essential vitamins and minerals for hair growth

ESSENTIAL VITAMINS

For healthy hair growth, it is necessary to have enough of vitamin C, B vitamins such as Biotin (also known as Vitamin B7 or Vitamin H) and Niacin (Vitamin B3). Foods such as sweet red peppers, guavas and dark green leafy kale contain very high amounts of Vitamin C. Foods such as the dark leafy green Swiss chard, carrots, and nuts including almonds and walnuts, are all naturally high in Vitamin B7. Niacin (Vitamin B3) is found in fish such as tuna and salmon, poultry (chicken and turkey), roasted peanuts and mushrooms. All of these vitamins – Vitamin C, Vitamin B7 (Biotin) and Vitamin B3 (Niacin) have been proven to help promote healthy hair growth and reduce hair loss.

ESSENTIAL MINERALS

Iron and Zinc are two minerals that promote healthy hair growth. Iron-rich foods are lean meats, spinach, chicken and beans or lentils. Iron is an essential mineral that has several important roles in the body including helping to make red blood cells, which carry oxygen around the body to all the cells. Hair loss can be one of the visible symptoms of anemia, or Iron deficiency. But even if you are not anemic, you may have low Iron levels that are affecting your health and may result in thinning hair. Seek medical advice if you believe you have low Iron levels. Foods naturally rich in Zinc include seafood, beef and lamb, wheat germ (toasted), spinach and pumpkin seeds. A diet rich in the minerals Iron and Zinc will help nourish hair from the inside out. If you do not have enough of the minerals in your diet to promote hair growth, consider taking dietary supplements for hair growth, including Iron, Zinc, Biotin, Niacin, Vitamin C and an exclusive marine complex derived from fish proteins.

Is hair transplant a safe method ???

Hair Transplant is a permanent hair loss solution in cases of established baldness. There are two procedures by which it can be performed i.e FUT ( Follicular unit Transplantation or FUE ( Follicular Unit Extraction ) which will be suggested by the surgeon. Undetectable and natural looking hairline can be achieved through the hair Transplantation. It is one of the best option to treat baldness and achieve natural looking results.

Hair transplantation is a procedure that involves extraction of  root bearing hair follicles from the donor area i.e. back and sides of the head and implanting them on the recipient area (bald area). It involves the transfer permanent hairs from the back  and sides of the scalp to the areas of balding.

SAFETY BENEFITS  IN HAIR TRANSPLANTATION PROCEDURE  :-

  • No incision, no sutures
  • Negligible pain & discomfort
  • Faster healing
  • Natural look
  • Direction of hair maintained
  • No scarring
  • Permanent cure
  • As patient’s own hair is transplanted in hair transplants, regrown hair completely simulates the original hair in texture, color, curl and caliber.
@cosmoworldclinics provides the best hair transplantation treatments that revitalize your hair and give your hair that thickness, strength , and charm that it deserves.  With the best of our techniques available, regain your youth and confidence again.

Serum Ferritin and Hair loss

Iron in our body is necessary to make enough hemoglobin which is the  part of  our red blood cells that binds and transports oxygen. There are several forms of anemia, but one of the most common is iron deficiency anemia. Too little iron leads to too little oxygen, which leads to exhaustion.

Ferritin and Hairloss

Your hair follicles actually store ferritin. When your body is short on iron for its essential functions (such as red blood cell production), it will steal it from the ferritin stored in less essential parts of the body, such as the hair follicle.
If your ferritin levels are sufficient, a single hair grows five years on average before falling out and being replaced. If ferritin is insufficient, this life cycle gets shorter. Low ferritin also affects the hair’s ability to grow, and may change the hair’s texture, rendering it weaker, more brittle.

Causes of Iron Deficiency

  • Decreased absorption and depletion. This can occur with proton pump inhibitors such as omeprazole, as well as prolonged ingestion of aspirin or NSAIDs. It can also occur with ingestion of too much coffee, black tea, manganese, fiber, calcium, magnesium, or phosphate.
  • An hidden bleed. It’s always worth checking for this. Occult bleeds often show up in the GI tract, and screening may include a stool culture, colonoscopy, and/or an endoscopy.
  • Menstruation. Menses = iron loss, which means menstruating women are more likely to be at risk for ferritin-related hair loss.

Adequate Ferritin Levels

Ferritin levels are considered normal for women between 10-120 ng/mL, and between 30-250 ng/mL for men. However, about 50-70 ng/mL are required to stop hair loss and for adequate hair regrowth.

Can Hair Transplant be done in a Diabetic Patient ??

Before choosing any good option for yourself, no of questions arise in one's mind about how safe that process will be . We all are humans and it is predictable on our part to have queries. Hair transplant either by FUT or by FUE can be done very well in a diabetic patient and it is safe also if his blood sugar level is controlled. Diabetes is not a contra indication for Hair restoration but levels need to be controlled. Any diabetic patient with his controlled blood sugar is as normal as common man. Only precaution he needs is to take care of his blood sugar level.

Hair transplant procedure takes from 6 to 8 hours and sometimes it is exhausting to patients because of the anxiety and anaesthesia. In short hair transplant procedure leads to the increase in the levels of cortisol and glucagon and the growth hormone so on so forth, all these hormones lead to the increase of sugar levels. Anxiety could also lead to increasing blood sugar levels. That is why diabetic patients normally need higher standards of treatment.

So in order to perform hair transplant procedures to diabetic patients the following requirements are a must that need to be taken into consideration.

  1. Eat healthy.
  2. Exercise. Having an active lifestyle helps you control your diabetes by bringing down your blood sugar. Your goal should be 30 minutes of activity that makes you sweat and breathe little harder most days of the week.
  3. Get check-ups. If you’re not getting regular checkups, now’s the time to start.
  4. Manage stress. When you’re stressed, your blood sugar levels go up. And when you’re anxious, you may not manage your diabetes well. You may forget to exercise, eat right, or take your prescribed drugs.
  5. Watch your alcohol. Avoiding excess alcohol may make it easier to control your blood sugar. Drinking alcohol can make your blood sugar go too high or too low.
  6. Stop smoking.
Having a medical condition involved is not a big problem , there are solutions to it which can cure the problem and you can have hair transplant done successfully.

Perm chemicals causing hair breakage and scalp pain

Trying out new trends to remain updated with the surroundings have become a necessity. Styling your hairs and giving them a new look makes you happy and we often try some latest things on hairs and end up landing with so many hair problems.

Even though getting a perm can be unpleasant at times, pain and hair breakage are not normal and should not accompany any perm service. All types of perms, including relaxers, use harsh chemicals that break down the chemical bonds of the hair. If used properly, the chemicals should not cause pain. However, operator error can lead to disastrous results including hair loss, chemical burns and severe hair damage.

Pain and scalp tenderness appear immediately after a harsh perm service. The irritated scalp and surrounding skin appears red. In extreme cases, blisters are present. Where there is pain, breakage usually follows. After a few days, breakage can be felt close to the scalp along the partings used for the perm rods. The breakage feels like stubble.

What can be the causes?

Several things can cause hair breakage and scalp pain after a perm. If the rods are rolled too tight against the head or if the rods are allowed to rock back and forth while rinsing or blotting, the scalp can become very sore. Breakage can occur if too much tension prevents the hair from expanding and shrinking during the perm process. The perm chemicals themselves can irritate or burn the scalp. If the chemicals are too harsh or if they are left on the head for too long, they weaken and break the hair.

TREATMENT AND PREVENTION

In the case of blisters and third-degree burns, seek medical attention. Treat mild irritation with aloe gel or soothing lotions. Treat extreme breakage with weekly conditioning treatments. While you cannot reverse breakage that has already occurred, you can prevent new breakage by strengthening and repairing the hair. Scalp pain and hair breakage are entirely preventable. Make sure that perm rods are placed in your hair with minimal tension. You should not be able to feel pulling once perm rods are in place. Wrap cotton rope around your hairline to prevent perm solution from pooling on the skin. Change the cotton immediately after the application of the perm solution. Alert your stylist to any burning or irritation felt during the perm process. Since most problems associated with perms are caused by stylist error, choose your stylist carefully.

CLIMATE AND HAIR

Weather affects every aspect of our lives. With all the ways that weather affects us, it’s little wonder that it can play such havoc on our hair. There are many ways that weather affects us. Let's see some of the effects of weather on our hairs:-

Summer:

The physical side bonds in our hair are broken by the application of heat and water. This is why we are able to style the hair using wet sets on rollers, and by using blow-dryers, curling irons and flat iron. Exposing styled hair to a hot, humid environment causes these side bonds to break again allowing the hair to return to its natural state. Naturally straight hair will have its curls begin to collapse. Naturally curly hair that has been ironed will begin to frizz and slide back into its curly state.

Some styling products can help to seal the hair shaft and make the hair resistant to the effects of weather, but they can only do so much in very intense weather situations.

Another “weather effect” that’s common in the summer is sun damage. In the same way that UV rays from the sun affect the melanin in the skin, it also causes changes in the melanin in the hair. Prolonged sun exposure can lighten the hair, and sometimes, when dealing with artificial hair color, can alter the color to an undesired shade. The UV rays penetrate the hair shaft and disperse the melanin that gives the hair its color.

Winter:

The most common weather-related effects on the hair during winter come from the cold (or specifically the constant changes from cold to warm environments) and from static. Cold, dry air can cause the cuticle layer of the hair to lift, and going into a warm, dry interior environment then leeches the moisture out of the hair, leaving it dry and frizzy. This also provides the perfect conditions for static, which can make the hair very unruly.

Wind:

Wind can also damage the hair. Exposure to strong persistent winds can create tangles in wavy and curly long hair. The wind buffets the hairs against one another which rough the cuticle layer causing the hairs to catch on one another. In addition, hair that is repeatedly buffeted in strong or gusting winds can develop split ends as the hairs brush against one another.

@COSMOWORLDCLINICS guides you better with all your hair related problems.

BIOTIN FOR HAIR GROWTH

Vitamins are very important for the better growth and development of the body.
If our body does not get required amount of essential vitamins and minerals, many of the important body functions such digestion, metabolism and immunity will gradually collapse leading to various problems.Biotin is one such vitamin that is very important for several functions of the body and has its positive effects on hairs, nails and skin. Biotin is a water-soluble B-Vitamin also known as coenzyme R, Vitamin B7 or Vitamin H.
ROLE OF BIOTIN IN HAIR GROWTHHowever, this vitamin being such an important vitamin in helping several body functions and overall growth mentioned above, there is a strong link between biotin and hair.

  • Biotin is one of the essential nutrients required for the growth and in controlling hair loss.
  • Biotin deficiency leads to hair breakage and hair loss along with cracked and brittle nails.
  • Sulphur is one of the active components of biotin that is good for the production of collagen that will help in growing strong hairs.
  • Biotin supplements have proven an effect on increased hair growth, reduction in hair fall and removal of hair dryness.
  • Biotin together with Vitamin E helps the hair lot in maintaining natural hair moisture and also helps in adding shine to the hair.

  •  Deficiency of biotin can be one of the reasons of thinning and breakage of hairs.
    BIOTIN RICH FOODS-

    #ThinningHair in Women

    #ThinningHair in Women

Thinning hair is an issue that’s faced by both men and women. Fortunately, there are effective ways to treat hair thinning.

Check out what are the causes your hair to thin...

Unlike serious hair loss, hair thinning in women is much more gradual and usually does not result in complete baldness.
While serious hair loss usually ends up with at least some exposed patches, thinning hair usually means...
Hair remains all over the head, but there is less texture to the point where the scalp looks exposed beneath.
    Causes of Thinning Hair
Like many medical conditions, thinning hair can be caused by a variety of factors. First, the myths:
1-Hair loss is caused by shampoo.

2-Hair loss is caused by age.

3-You will definitely lose your hair if your mom or dad did.

Post -Op Instructions After Hair Transplant Surgery

#Hair Transplantation is a very predictable surgery, all post operative events are already conveyed to you immediately after the surgery is over, so there is no need for any anxiety. Some #Postoperative instructions to be followed.

    1. Have light food, Rice, Dal, chapatti and vegetables.

    2. Alcoholic beverages and smoking should be avoided.

3.In occasional instances, minor bleeding can occur from the transplant side and / or donor area. This can be controlled by applying gentle but firm pressure on the area for 5-10 minutes with a dampened gauge pad. Press only, don't rub.

    4. A pressure dressing will be applied on the back of your scalp, where grafts were harvested. This dressing should remain in place for 3 days. After 3 days, shampooing will be done and dressing will be removed from the donor area.

    5. If you feel any kind of itching or redness on the donor area. You can apply bacitracin ointment over the donor area, once daily for 3 more days.

    6. If the grafts dry prematurely, they may cause itching. To avoid this from happening , wetting of grafts with normal saline 4-5 times a day for 7 days is required.

    7. You can watch T.v or listen music.

    8. Avoid exertion and jerky movements of head.

    9. Use soft pillows, you may lay on the back of head.

    10. Postoperative swelling may appear in 5-10% of patient on the forehead which may come down to eyelids on day 4/5, if so, don't panic. You can take ice cubes, keep them in piece of cloth and place it onto the swollen area for 2-3 minutes for 4-5 times for 2 days. It will disappear within 1-2 days.

    11. After 5 days of surgery, you can do head wash yourself, just need to keep in mind that you do little wetting of hairs normally without direct shower. We recommend you use a large cup and fill it with normal water and pour small amount of Johnson & Johnson Baby shampoo into the large cup. Pour this mixture onto your entire scalp and spread over the sides and back of the scalp, massaging the mixture with your fingers, do not rub. It is important that you do not touch the recipient areas with your fingers as this may cause the grafts to come out. Rinse lightly with your large cup that is now filled with only water.

    12. Avoid any strenuous exercises atleast for 1 month. Most activities in the work place should be easily resumed a two or three day after the procedure.

    13. Hats may not be worn the first 6-7 days. After that remember not to wear a hat that collapses or touches your scalp, especially where grafts were placed.

    14. Hair may start falling by 2 weeks. Do not panic, the roots are firmly in place , sometimes you may see whitish material sticking onto your roots, don't worry about it, they will start growing by 3-4 months, you will appreciate full results in 9 months- 1 year.

    15. Some patients are too anxious to clean grafts, they may see grafts with greenish brown material sticking to skin, this only needs proper cleaning by gentle shampooing and not by picking it. Rubbing is allowed only after 21 days of procedure.

    16. Be sure to take medications provided to you as directed.
