All you need to know about PRP Therapy !!!

What are PRP hair regrowth treatments and how do they work?

PRP or Platelet Rich Plasma for hair regrowth is an in-office, non-surgical, non-invasive treatment derived from the patient’s own blood that can be performed in about an hour. After the area of concern is identified, evaluated and measured, special gentle and sterile techniques and equipment are used to separate and concentrate the platelets and plasma from a small sample of peripheral blood. A small sample of the blood and PRP is tested in a hematology analyzer to measure and document the improved platelet concentration. PRP contains growth factors and cytokines that have been shown to be responsible for stimulating and enhancing hair follicle function.

Who can be the ideal candidate for PRP treatments for hair loss?

According to the analysis done, two types of hair loss patients can get benefit from this therapy ; patients with areas of “weak quality” hair growth on the scalp, where functioning hair follicles can still be observed, and patients with small areas of alopecia areata. PRP promotes density and overall volume of hair follicles thereby controlling the hair loss as well as enhancing the quality of hairs and improving their life span.

Are there any contraindications or other factors that would make someone ineligible for PRP?

Patients should be educated well about their exact condition so as to what results they could expect from PRP in various areas of the scalp. Different areas of the scalp may respond differently to PRP depending on the amount of weak hair follicles present in each zone. Generally, with the exception of small round areas of alopecia areata, locations where severe depletion of follicles has occurred should not be treated. The vast majority of healthy individuals can easily undergo PRP treatments.

Benefits of hair transplant surgery

Several people are concerned about how they look. Be it their nose, the distance of their eyes, their hairline, or their ears, everybody has his or her own complain about something. However, there are some who are unfortunate enough to receive unpleasant features on their faces.

A large percentage of the male population experiences hair loss during their lifetime. Several reasons for this occurrence include family history, aging as well as trauma or burns. There are also women who experience hair loss naturally. Although there are several alternatives, aside from cosmetic surgery, to battle hair loss, cosmetic surgery procedures offer a solution with a more natural result.

An ideal candidate for a hair transplant procedure is someone who has a healthy growth of hair at the sides and back of the head, self-conscious about his or her appearance, realistic goals and expectations

Probably one of the most important features of a hair transplant is that it uses the patient’s existing hair. There will be patches of hair taken from the back of the head for the reason that the hair at this specific area of the head is less likely to thin regardless where it gets transplanted.

The hair transplant procedure can provide a new and natural-looking head of hair. Although hair transplants do not actually add that much hair to the head, they can still provide an appearance of more hair in areas that are balding.
In addition, a hair transplant can also enhance one’s self-confidence by providing an appearance of a hairy head. There are even some individuals who earn additional contentment in knowing that the hair used for the procedure is their own.
Hair Transplant is the best  and most reliable method of gaining your confidence back.It is the modern day solution to fight baldness...

POWER OF SMALL SEEDS

Chia seeds are a powerhouse of nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, manganese, calcium and phosphorous. It is amazing how these tiny seeds can help you with problems ranging from sustaining energy levels, excessive weight loss to hair loss.

Chia seeds are tiny white or dark brown seeds that belong to the mint family.
The seeds are a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids which are essential fatty acids that cannot be synthesized in the body and need to be ingested through food. Omega-3 fatty acids are essential to maintain a healthy circulatory system, to reduce inflammation in the body and to keep the hair and skin healthy. The amount of antioxidants in chia seeds is more than what you can find in cranberries.

Chia seeds are made of upto 23% protein. Our hair  is primarily made of a protein called Keratin. Consuming chia seeds helps in restoring the health and strength in the hair and giving you thick and voluminous hair.

Copper and Zinc are important minerals which are found in chia seeds. Copper helps in cutting down thinning of hair while zinc helps in repairing damage and preventing scalp infections.

Loss of iron from the body is one of the major causes of hair loss among women. Consuming Chia seeds will restore the iron levels in the body, promoting better circulation and hair growth.

The seeds help promote better sleep, which is essential to relieve stress. Once you are free from stress, it is goodbye to hair problems.

Healthy food for healthy hairs

Eat the correct balance of the following vitamins and minerals to supply hair with all that it needs to remain shiny, lustrous and strong...

Protein

As hair is made of protein, ensuring you have enough protein in your diet is crucial for making hair strong and healthy. If you are not consuming enough protein in your diet, your hair is likely to become dry, brittle and weak. Extremely low protein diets may result in hair loss. Choose chicken, turkey, fish, dairy products and eggs as excellent sources of protein along with vegetarian sources such as legumes and nuts.

Iron

Iron is an especially important mineral for hair and too little iron (anaemia) is a major cause of hair loss. The hair follicle and root are fed by a nutrient rich blood supply. When iron levels (serum ferritin) fall below a certain point, you may experience anaemia. This disrupts the nutrient supply to the follicle, affecting the hair growth cycle and may result in shedding. Animal products such as red meat, chicken and fish provide iron with a high bioavailability, meaning the iron is readily available to the body. Vegetarians can raise their iron stores by including lentils, spinach and other leafy green vegetables such as broccoli, kale and salad greens.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C aids the absorption of iron so foods high in vitamin C are good to eat in conjunction with iron-rich foods. Vitamin C is also an antioxidant so is used readily by the body. The best sources are blackcurrants, blueberries, broccoli, guava, kiwi fruits, oranges, papaya, strawberries and sweet potatoes. Vitamin C helps in the production of collagen that strengthens the capillaries that supply the hair shafts.

Omega-3

Omega-3 fatty acids are important fats our body cannot make itself, and therefore must be obtained through our diet. Omega-3s are found in the cells that line the scalp and also provide the oils that keep your scalp and hair hydrated. Look out for oily fish such as salmon, herring, sardines, trout and mackerel and plant sources including avocado, pumpkin seeds and walnuts.

what should be your everyday routine for hairs???

Trying to look after your hair and get all that everyday stuff done you need to do, as well as look after your friends and family, can be a difficult balancing act. We want to have great hair; but unfortunately, shiny, healthy hair doesn't just happen without a little bit of effort. So, you need to start up your day with healthy hair tips.

Step #1: Brush Your Hair

It may seem like the obvious thing to do, but you may need to know that brushing keeps your hair tangle free and distributes its natural oils throughout the hair. This promotes healthy growth and shine.

Step #2: Wash Your Hair

How often you wash your hair depends on your hair type and texture. Work out what's best for you by seeing how your hair reacts to washing and hair care products, and develop a schedule from there. For instance:
Your hair is coarse/dry if it often feels brittle- this means you only need to wash it every second or third day.
Your hair is fine/oily if it feels greasy the day after you wash it- this means you need to wash it daily.
Your hair is normal if you wash it one day and it's not too greasy the next- this means you can get away with washing it every other day.
Shampoo Tips
Remember to shampoo in small, circular movements; don't forget to target dirt collecting areas such as the nape of your neck.
Massaging your scalp will increase blood flow which encourages growth and will stimulate your hair's natural oils (producing shiny locks).
Coarse/dry hair will benefit from hydrating shampoos.
Fine/oily hair should be washed with a clear shampoo (one that doesn't look creamy).
Normal hair can use just about any type of shampoo- just remember to always use good quality products for the best results.
Conditioner Tips
Similar to body lotion for your skin, conditioner is moisturizer for your hair and will keep your strands hydrated and manageable.
For an even application  use your hands and a wide-toothed comb.
If you've got coarse/dry hair try a hydrating conditioner and apply it right from your roots to your ends.
For fine/oily hair use a lightweight conditioner and avoid putting it on your roots (evenly distribute it from the mid-lengths to the ends).
For normal hair you can use just about any kind of conditioner, applied from your roots to your ends also.

Step #3: Apply Less Hair Styling Products

If you have a hairstyle that needs to use hair products, hairspray for hold, wax for hold and shine, or serum for shine  then don't use too much! You might end up weighing your hair down and reducing its volume, or just making it greasy and dirty.
Also, don't forget to protect your hair. If you style your hair with a hair straightener or blow dryer, it's very important to protect your hair with heat protecting products, and to give your hair a break every few days from the stress of using hair accessories and hair styling tools.

Step #4: Style Your Hair

Everyone styles their hair, whether they're elaborate updos, professional looking hairdos for work, or casual wash-and-wear looks. Styling is required daily and should be done as gently as possible.

Step #5: Brush Your Hair Again at Night

Brushing your hair again at night will help you to untangle any knots that made their way into your locks during the day.

Step #6: Secure Your Hair at Night

Securing your hair at night with a simple ponytail or plait will make sure your locks don't get snagged or tangled as you sleep.
There you have it, a simple daily routine (and some great hair care tips). It's not hard to follow, it won't have you spending all of your hard earned cash, and most importantly, you wil get your hair in the best condition possible.

Is oiling necessary for hairs ???

Oiling ones hair is one of the most important things, if we want to take care of our hair. It is very necessary that hair is given proper treatment which would mean a massage with some of the most beneficial oils. Having the right kind of oil for your hair is very important and so is oiling your hair.

Having good hair oil is not enough eating the right kind of food also helps. Harmful foods such as canned and processed food which do not protect your hair instead damage it, should not be eaten. Fresh coconut is very good for your hair.

For beautiful and strong hair, massage your scalp with hair oil and leave it overnight. You can also use a steamed towel to cover your hair for half an hour for best results. This gives your hair a shiny and lustrous look.
Oiling your hair everyday would be too much to ask for. But do this at least twice week for beautiful hair. It does make a lot of difference if you keep doing this regularly as it is bound to show on your hair.
The massaging and oiling of your hair stimulates the blood circulation, which in return helps your hair. Due to the oil your hair is protected from the strong and hot sun rays. The oil also gives your hair that extra shine.
Some of the oils beneficial for hairs :-
Jojoba Oil - can be used for dry hair as it helps to moisturize your hair properly. It helps to soften your hair and can be used to detangle your hair before shampooing.
Olive Oil - strengthens your hair and nourishes it due to inherent qualities it has. It helps to reduce stress and promotes the idea of healthy hair by providing elasticity to your hair.
Coconut Oil - is one of the oil which helps in the lubrication of the hair. The content in coconut oil like magnesium, potassium, calcium and iron happens to provide the best for your hair. It is very useful for damaged hair due to its ability to strengthen it.
Rosemary Herbal Oil - is very useful for the unwanted and flaky dandruff problems. Warm the oil slightly and apply it with the help of your fingers or cotton. Rub it well on the scalp and wrap with a hot towel.

Pollution and Hairfall

Being the protective layer of our body, hair and skin act as the first barrier to pollution. Various pollutants, including small airborne particles, large suspended particles, smoke and gaseous pollution, come in direct contact with the scalp and hair, thereby causing irritation, damage and other associated dermatological conditions.

Some Preventive measures:

  • Avoid exercising or going out when pollution levels are high in your area.
  •  One of the major causes of atmospheric pollution in urban areas is emission from increasing vehicular traffic. Pollution caused by fumes from vehicle exhausts can adversely affect the hair. These contain huge amounts of carbon monoxide and other hydrocarbons which pollute the air and can adversely affect the health of your hair.
  • Wash your hair on a regular basis if you are often exposed to pollutants. Deep conditioning will also be helpful. You can use natural oils or essential oils to keep your hair healthy.
  •  Do not wash your hair in hot water. Cold water can stimulate your scalp.
  •  Avoid any kind of excessive hair treatment like dyeing, bleaching or coloring. These have harmful chemicals which will damage your hair further.
  •  Do not oil your hair and go out. The pollutants will stick to your hair, causing harm.
  •  Antioxidants can help. Since pollutants cause oxidative stress, which is the main mechanism of hair damage, minerals, oral vitamins, and antioxidants can help relieve symptoms. The combined use of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals along with the use of Minoxidil and Finasteride can be an effective treatment for hair loss.
  • If your hair is exposed on a regular basis to pollutants it may cause oily scalp, dandruff, itchy scalp, pain at the hair roots and of course, hair fall. Actually, these pollutants settle on the scalp and harm the hair from within. The pollutants basically get into hair follicles causing hair loss and oxidative stress.
For people living in highly industrialized areas, harmful chemicals let out from factories can cause damage to the hair. These chemicals cause hair follicles to become weak leading to hair fall.

Premature Graying of hairs

Hair greying is an eventual and irreversible reality of life and is often associated with growing old. But how and why exactly does black turn white? The answer lies in a chemical called melanin. The root of every hair strand under the scalp is surrounded by a tube of hair tissue called hair follicle which contains pigment cells. These pigment cells produce the chemical called melanin that gives the hair strand its colour - black, brown, blonde. When a person grows older, these pigment cells begin to die and the melanin production reduces too, making the strand less colourful and more transparent - grey, silver or white. And that is why hair greying is associated with age.
Even though genetics and hereditary factors play a major role in determining the time of your hair turning grey.

Causes:

A number of medical conditions as well as lifestyle choices have been related to premature greying of hair.

Medical Conditions:

  • Thyroid Disease: An underactive or overactive thyroid can affect the melanin production in the hair which can cause premature greying.
  • B12 Deficiency: Deficiency of B12 has also been linked to premature greying of hair.
  • Vitiligo: Vitiligo is a disease that is caused when the pigment producing cells in your skin and hair are damaged. Once the cells in your scalp are damaged, melanin production is reduced  and hair begins to turn grey.
It is advisable to see a doctor if you experience premature greying of hair and have a reason to believe that it is not hereditary. This is essential so that you can rule out these serious disorders that have caused early hair greying.
While some medical conditions can be the cause for premature grayin

AVOID GREASY HAIRS !!!

1. Wash your hair frequently but not every day-  Daily washing may cause the oils to be stripped too quickly, encouraging them to come back as even oilier to make up for the loss. If you have naturally greasy hair, it's recommended that you only wash it every 2-3 days.

2. Be careful with conditioners - Avoid using them at the root as this part of the hair is already moisturized by the natural oils (grease) produced within hours of washing your hair. A conditioner is actually meant to nourish the drier ends anyway, so try to keep its use just for the lower half of your hair.

3. Be choosy about the styling products you use. Don't use too much or you'll weigh your hair down and residue could accumulate. Stay away from gloppy gels, because they will make your hair look greasy when it's not.

4. Brush only as much as needed to make your hair neat. Do not over-brush your hair as brushing is stimuli to the oil glands and this is likely to increase oil production.

5. Avoid touching or brushing your hair as much as possible. This is important especially after eating or preparing greasy foods, as you might transfer the food oils into your hair. The same with oily makeup––pin your hair back of your face before applying the makeup and don't touch your hair with fingers covered in makeup. Keep your hair neat without touching it too much also––use a comb to remove tangles, not your fingers.

4. Cut split ends off your hair regularly. This will help to keep your hair from becoming more damaged and it will appear thicker and stronger.

5. Blow dry your hair off your forehead. Your forehead can be an oily skin zone, so keeping hair off your forehead will help to ensure that it doesn't absorb the oils from your skin.

6. Do not straighten your hair regularly. Straightening the hair really damages it, both through heat or chemical processes. The heat from the straighteners makes your hair produce grease, and since you'll be touching your hair to straighten it, this risks producing more grease.

When to choose Hair Restoration Surgery as an option

Hair Transplant surgery is basically the extraction of hair follicles from the “donor area” and the placement of those follicles to a balding or thinning area.
The proper placement of these follicles can rebuild your receding hairline, increase your overall density, and restore the vitality of your previously full head of hair.  In the fight against hereditary hair loss, a hair transplant helps you achieve the goal of looking more youthful and healthy, and restoring your hair for a lifetime. It is one of the permanent solution to your hair problem.

It is one of the great option if you are :-

  1. Experiencing hair loss and ready to invest in a permanent solution.
  2. A former hair transplant patient, ready to invest in more density or a touch up procedure.
  3. Wanting to maintain a more youthful look by filling in areas of hair loss or  having receded hairline.
  4. Female or male patient with significant thinning.
  5. Male patient looking to avoid the family history pattern of baldness.
  6. A patient who has scars from other surgery or injury on the scalp and would like to hide the scar by transplanting hair into the area.
Your hair type and ethnicity, along with how much area coverage you want , will make a difference in the type of hair restoration surgery you choose.

choosing a right method

It is always advisible to  choose the best available option . There are two methods of hair restoration available - FUE and FUT. Depending upon the accuracy, results and safety, one should arrive at the right decision and for that you need to have thorough consultation with the experts .

HISTORY OF HAIR TRANSPLANT

Modern hair transplant techniques were first developed in Japan in the 1930s where surgeons used grafts to help restore eyebrow and eyelashes as well as the scalp hair of burns victims. It did not become a treatment for male pattern baldness until the 1950s when dermatologist Dr Norman Orentreich planted the first grafts in balding areas. Techniques progressed from there and follicular unit transplantation (FUT), or strip harvesting came into existence and became the first popular method of hair transplantation.
FUT is where a strip of hair is surgically removed from the back or side of the scalp and follicular unit grafts are extracted and replanted in the balding area by the surgeon, using very small micro blades or fine needles. However, the main drawback with this method is that a scar is left in the donor area, which is visible if the patient likes to wear his or her hair short and neck flexibility is compromised.
Early FUT procedures in the 1980s had mixed success. Patients could be left with plug-like  hairs, with several hairs sprouting together in unsightly individual clumps. However, techniques for replanting donor hair have improved. Thanks to the technique slowly evolving over time as surgeons became more experienced at performing the operations and shared their knowledge, leading to a much more natural blend with existing natural hair.

FUE and its development over the last ten years

A different hair transplantation method, follicular unit extraction (FUE), was first developed as a technique in the 1990s by Australian physician Dr Ray Wood and his sister Dr Angela Campbell. They felt that cutting out a big patch of skin to harvest the donor hair was unnecessarily traumatic so developed a new technique where the follicular units were taken one-by-one, directly from the donor area, with fine needles. Early FUE techniques were fairly unsophisticated and there was noticeable scarring from punch grafts used to the remove the donor hair, which ranged in diameter from 1.5mm to 2mm. However, more recently, these punches have become much smaller – between 0.6mm and 1mm in diameter, due to improved equipment – meaning that the scarring is almost indiscernible to the naked eye.

Modern day FUE treatments involve removing individual follicular unit grafts, containing one to four hairs, under local anaesthetic using tiny punches. The grafts are replanted in the donor area using a fine needle, typically over the course of one day. Most surgeons are able to transplant up to 4,000 grafts in a single day.

Talking about future perspective

A hair transplant is a skillful distribution of available hair. However, no new hair is produced. But what if surgeons could solve the problem of the limited number of donor hair follicles? Researchers are currently working on new alternative treatments:
New stem cell techniques involve retaining part of the donor hair follicle and supporting its regeneration – producing two follicles from one and doubling the extent of the donor hair. The main drawbacks so far have been related to the quality of both of the resulting hair grafts.
Hair cloning involves healthy follicle cells that are extracted from areas of the scalp where there is no baldness. These cells are multiplied (cloned) by various culturing methods and the newly produced cells are then injected back in the balding areas of the scalp where they would produce new hair. However, the method is still in the research phase and no hair transplant clinics are currently using it to my knowledge.

UNCOMBABLE HAIR SYNDROME

Uncombable hair syndrome  is a rare disorder of the hair shaft of the scalp. It is usually characterized by silvery-blond or straw-colored hair that is disorderly; stands out from the scalp; and cannot be combed flat. It may first become apparent from 3 months of age to 12 years of age. The syndrome has been found to be caused by mutations in the genes . These  genes code for proteins that are involved in hair shaft formation. The syndrome appears to be inherited in an autosomal recessive  fashion

Signs and symptoms of uncombable hair syndrome

Uncombable hair syndrome may first become apparent any time between the ages of 3 months and 12 years. It only affects the scalp hair. The quantity of hair remains normal, but the hair often grows slowly.Over time the hair becomes progressively silvery-blond or straw-colored; dry and disordered (standing out and growing in different directions); and unmanageable to comb flat. In some cases, constant efforts to groom the hair lead to breakage, but increased fragility is not a constant feature of the condition. In later childhood, there is usually a considerable amount of spontaneous improvement.

Uncombable hair syndrome diagnosis

A diagnosis of uncombable hair syndrome  is made by observing the characteristic symptoms of the condition, as well observing the hair shaft under a special microscope. When the individual hair strands are viewed under a microscope, the hair is either triangular or kidney-shaped on cross section, and has a canal-like longitudinal groove along one or two faces.

 Uncombable hair syndrome be treatment

There is no definitive treatment for uncombable hair syndrome, but the condition usually improves or resolves on its own with the onset of puberty. Gentle hair care is generally recommended using conditioners and soft brushes, along with avoiding harsh hair treatments such as permanent waves (perms); chemical relaxants; or excessive brushing and blow drying.Another strategy that has been suggested to improve the appearance of the hair is the use of biotin supplements.
