TRIGGERS OF FEMALE HAIR LOSS !!!

Hair shedding is a part of every day life. On average we lose around 80 - 100 strands a day, if you begin to shed significantly more than that or you notice they aren't growing back, the thing is, when it comes to hair loss there are so many potential triggers, which means it can be tricky to pinpoint the exact reason why your strands are falling out, and henceforth, how to remedy the situation.

TYPES OF HAIR LOSS :-

Genetic:

There's a chance you're genetically predisposed to hair thinning, which means you may see a progressive, gradual reduction in hair volume. In these instances, certain hair follicles are sensitive to male hormones – and this sensitivity causes follicles to gradually shrink and produce slightly finer and shorter hairs with each passing hair growth cycle.

Reactive:

This means your hair loss is the result of a trigger. Excessive daily hair shedding (which is know as telogen effluvium) is not reliant on having a genetic predisposition, it occurs as the result of an internal imbalance or upset, such as a nutritional deficiency, severe stress, crash dieting or an illness.
COMMON TRIGGERS :-

1.   Hormonal imbalance

       2.   Stress
       3.   Iron deficiency/anemia
        4.   Vitamin B12 deficiency
        5.    Age

Hair Growth after Hair Transplant

Hair growth after transplantation requires patience. It depends on where in the cycle of growth each follicle is. The hair that is implanted goes through its intrinsic cycle of growth. The growth starts after three months and Usually it will take up to one year, but it may vary for each person. after hair transplant surgery, the hair has to go through its normal cycle of growth. Each hair follicle has its own cycle.   Depending on the it's position in its cycle, once implanted it will go through its cycle and therefore grows in accordingly.  So normally gradually the hair starts to grow in.  Around six months, about fifty percent of the hair would grow in, and continue to grow to up to 18 months after the procedure.  As it is starting to come in there is a stage when the hair growth looks kind of awkward, at that stage you just have to be patient.

The hardest part of this procedure is the waiting.  Most likely you may notice some hair, but you are disappointed with the overall fullness.  You have probably seen pictures of people who have a full head of hair 6 months after a transplant and wondering why this is not the case for you.  When you feel your head you might feel short hairs that are not yet growing.   Although you have seen some growth, it can take longer than a year for many of the transplanted hairs to grow.  The initial growth might be a thin, wispy hair despite the fact that the follicle was taken from a site where the hairs were thicker.   Don't panic , you need to be patient.  It does get better day by day.

The transplanted hair usually falls out in the first couple of weeks and then began to regrow in a sparse manner around 3-4 months.
After that, hair growth is somewhat erratic. General trend is for some hair grows back after 3 to 4 months,  some more at 5 to 6 months, and even more at 7 to 8 months. because of this erratic pattern of hair growth, that's why we generally tell people to expect the results to take a full year to realize.

Is Hair Transplant a painful procedure???

Hair transplantation is not an easy undertaking because it is also a type of surgery. The procedure calls for manual treatment using surgical instruments. There is no clear measurement of how much pain a person may experience. There are individual factors that determine the intensity of pain a person may feel.

Much of the feedback from hair transplantation patients point out the stage where pain is likely to be experienced. According to doctors and patients themselves, the most painful part of hair restoration surgery is having the anesthetic injected into the scalp.

Pain has different aspects for many people. The pain tolerance threshold is the stage at which pain becomes unbearable for a person, but this varies for diverse individuals.  Some people can put up with extreme pain; others cannot tolerate even a slight one. The component of our reaction to pain is complex. Likewise, a good percentage of pain comes from being edgy or nervous. If you are one of those who cannot tolerate the presence of pain in your body, it will not be advisable for you to consider hair transplantation. It is due to this low pain threshold that people will not choose this procedure.

AT WHAT STAGE SOME PAIN CAN BE FELT ???

The patient needs to know the things that will take place during the hair transplant procedure. Initially, the surgery begins with the application of local anesthetic to your scalp. This is probably the most painful part of the procedure. A series of injections are made to the scalp’s donor as well as recipient areas.
SOME POINTS TO BE NOTED :-
A slight pain will be present during the injection of anesthesia and also at the end the surgery.
About half of the patients who have undergone this treatment have reported swelling on the forehead and in the upper face. However, this effect is perfectly normal. and can be rectified by applying ice pack.
There will be numbness in the head after several weeks because the scalp is still under a healing period. The implanted tissues are reconnecting with the blood vessels in the scalp, thus the skin is less sensitive. This will be experienced for about four weeks after the surgery has taken place. After that, the numbing will start to wear off.
For those who have high pain tolerance, you have nothing to fear. A good doctor will always see to it that the patient is ready and relaxed before any procedure is done.

Stress v/s Hair loss

Stress and Hair loss can be directly co-related to each other. It often seems that those that live in constant fear about losing their hair may actually contribute to their own hair loss, by giving themselves so much stress and anxiety that their hair may actually fall out.

Hair loss is still hair loss. If you have hair loss, you'll need to see a doctor or a hair specialist if you want to control it. But anxiety can lead to conditions that cause hair loss, and certainly make living with hair loss far more stressful.

The key issue between anxiety and hair loss is stress. Anxiety is, in many ways, long term and persistent stress and thus stress ultimately weakens your tresses.

Stress can cause many conditions that lead to hair loss. These include:

  • Alopecia Areata - Sudden loss of large clumps of hair in areas around your scalp.

  • Telogen Effluvium - This is a condition where more hairs than normal prepare to fall out.

  • Trichotillomania - This is a habitual condition caused by stress and anxiety where the person pulls out hairs without realizing it.
Stress  sometimes induces hair loss which is sometimes irreversible.Stress can lead to Telogen effluvium which is a medical condition leading to hair loss. Telogen effluvium is often responsible for large portions of hair loss, where the hair typically falls out in 'handfuls'. Up to 70% of scalp hair can be lost through this condition. Telogen effluvium doesn't actually cause hair loss, instead it causes the hair to stop growing. Stress can lead to a condition called Alopecia Areata . This causes the white blood cells to attack the hair follicles in the scalp, leading to a very instantaneous  hair loss. Hair often falls out in patches , but total hair loss can affect the whole scalp in the space of  a few weeks. Stress needs to be first managed to trigger hair loss.
Specialists at Cosmoworldclinics are available to assist you and help you decide if medication or FUE hair Transplant is required. Book an aapointment now, call - 9643636652

Get rid of oily scalp

Oil glands in the scalp are supposed to produce oil that helps keep your hair moisturized but when they start producing too much oil; you get an oily scalp and greasy hair.

An oily scalp can be caused due to heredity, hormonal imbalance, stress and diet. You may also find your scalp becoming too oily in the winter season. There may even be a problem of oily hair with dry scalp. In this case the dry scalp causes the oil glands to produce more oil that makes the hair look sticky but the scalp remains dry.

Tips to reduce oil :-

Wash your hair:  When your hair is oily, You wash it some more. Experts say that washing your hair more than once a day will cause your scalp to dry up causing the oil glands to produce more oil. So wash your hair on alternate days to clean up the scalp or once a day if the scalp is dirty.

Change your Shampoo: You need to select a shampoo that is mild with low pH or that is made specifically for oily hair. Clarifying shampoos are also known to be suitable for the job. Remember not to select a shampoo that contains greasy ingredients like lanolin and silicone and also avoid those shampoos that have conditioners in them.

Conditioner: Even with an oily scalp, you may find that hair ends have become dry. In this case, applying conditioner becomes important. But remember to use it only to the ends. If your hair isn’t dry then avoid using conditioner altogether.

Not too much force: Just because your oil glands have gone on an overdrive doesn’t mean that you need to be harsh and vigorous when washing your hair. When you rub your scalp with force, you remove all the oil from it, leaving it dry which only leads to more production of oil. So, be gentle when you wash your hair and do not pile your hair on the top that causes it to tangle and break.

Oil for your hair: When you have oily hair, applying oil in your hair won’t even cross your mind but some of the natural oils can help in reducing oil production in your scalp. But oil your hair only once a week or twice a month during summers.

Astringents: Astringents can help keep the oil off your scalp and keep the scalp clean. You can buy mild astringents from the chemist or use the natural astringent mixtures by squeezing lemon in water and applying it on your scalp. Wash after some time.

You can also use a mixture of vinegar and water to clean out your scalp. Take two tablespoons of white vinegar and add half a cup of water and apply to your scalp. Wash after 30 minutes.

Don’t brush too much: When you brush your hair, you take the oil from the scalp to the hair strands. Hence do not brush too many times in a day.

Reduce stress: Stress plays an important role in regulating your hormonal balance. If you are stressed, you cause hormonal imbalance that may cause over secretion of oil by oil glands. By dealing with stress in a better way, you can avoid oily skin, hair and scalp. Ways to reduce stress include joining a hobby class, mediation, exercising, dancing and singing.

Try these tips and get your bouncy , silky tresses back. Call- 9643636652

Difference between hair loss and breakage

The hair shaft is a remarkable structure that takes a great deal of abuse, ranging from exposure to the environment, and to frequent combing and brushing. Normal hair keeps its resiliency, flexibility, and strength for up to 7 years, unless there are genetic defects present.

When hair naturally falls from the root, you are experiencing hair loss. Hair Loss is 70% hereditary and 30% chemical. You may not be able to prevent it but you can certainly take steps to keep your hair as healthy as possible.

Hair Breakage is due to a lack of proper hair treatment, which includes over-processing, neglect, application of product, and tension on hair (seen especially in those wearing weaves, braids, etc.). Curly hair is especially prone to breakage due to it’s texture and likelihood to tangle and snag.
To determine the difference just look at the hair in your brush; if the root is still attached (the white bulb that we often mistake for dandruff or product buildup), you’re losing hair. If the ends are frayed or look chewed, this is most certainly breakage and should be addressed.
One way to decrease both hair loss and breakage is to be super diligent during detangling. Being extra gentle, use a wide-toothed comb and take extra care to condition your strands. Regular trims are also important. Lastly, focusing on the health of your hair can prevent excessive breakage and loss. Water, a healthy diet, biotin supplements, and weekly deep conditioning treatments will all go far to contribute to the overall health of your hair.

Hair Styles causing damage to your hairs !!!

Baldness, scientifically, referred to as alopecia , is partial or complete loss of hair on the scalp and/or other areas of body. This condition comes in many forms but the kind that is caused by wearing certain hair styles is called as "Traction Alopecia ".

Your hair styling methods and tools can cause significant hair damage and hair loss. Let us take a look at the hair styles that are not good for us.

1. PONYTAILS:

The easiest way to keep hair from your face is to gather it towards the back or top of head and holdout together with a tie. Women who wear pony tail often complain that their hair is no longer growing , intact hair is repeatedly broken at a same distance from scalp  due to trauma caused by rubber band. Although this hairstyle is most convenient to maintain , but this has its disadvantages. When hair is pulled back in a pony tail , the hair at margins of scalp tend to receive greatest tensile force , and hair loss becomes most noticeable on the scalp margins and outermost hairs of the braid. Once lost, this leads to receding hair line and widening of part lines and leads to Frontal and Parietal Hair Loss.

2.  TWISTING HAIR INTO A BUN ON THE TOP OF HEAD:

Constant tugging at the roots  leads to multiple hair breaking off.  Unlike a hair pluck which is painful, persistent gentle pulling on roots may go unnoticed until bald spots or alopecia starts to appear. In long run, it can lead to “Horseshoe Alopecia” in the centre of scalp.

3. TIGHT BRAIDING IN CORNROWS:

Braids are popular among African- American races. It leads to marginal or central alopecia with widening of part lines.

4.  BRUSH ROLLERS:

These rollers can cause pulling on the hair and patches of hair loss. If applied too tightly produce irregular shape of alopecia.

5.  WEAVES

An artificial way to make short hair appear longer and thicker. This is achieved   through the use of “hair extensions” that are either woven or glued. Hair extensions add extra weight to existing hairs and cause roots to be pulled upon. Hair extensions strains the hair, damages the scalp and cause scarring. They may provide temporary boost to your confidence but they can make you a candidate for permanent alopecia.

Some few Hair styling tips  :

1. Hair should be tied loosely and alternately in short period of time.
2. Go natural, at least sometimes.
3. Change your styling methods.
4. Avoid wearing hair accessories like tight pins, bands and clips.
5. Always change the location of your pony tail
6. Avoid bruising your hair vigorously
7. Avoid sleeping in your rollers, curlers or tight braids.
8. Change your hair style frequently to change the direction of tension on hair follicle

FEMALE PATTERN BALDNESS

Female pattern baldness involves a typical pattern of #hairloss in women, due to hormones, aging, and genes.

Causes

A hair grows from its follicle at an average rate of about 1/2 inch per month. Each hair grows for 2 to 6 years, then rests, and then falls out. A new hair soon begins growing in its place.
Baldness occurs when hair falls out and normal new hair does not grow in its place. The reason for female pattern baldness can be  related to:

  • Aging

  • Changes in the levels of androgens (male hormones). For example, after reaching menopause, many women find that the hair on their head is thinner, while the hair on their face is coarser.

  • Family history of male or female pattern baldness

Hair loss can occur in women for reasons other than female pattern baldness, including the following:
  • Breaking of hair (from treatments and twisting or pulling of hair, or hair shaft abnormalities that are present from birth)
  • Certain skin diseases that lead to scarring of the hair follicles
  • Certain autoimmune diseases

  • Hormone problems, such as too much testosterone, or too much or too little thyroid hormone
  • Too little iron
  • Too little vitamin B (biotin) or other vitamin deficiency
  • Medications such as chemotherapy and beta blockers
  • Patchy hair loss (alopecia areata )
  • Syphilis, a sexually transmitted infection
  • Temporary shedding of hair after a major illness, surgery, or pregnancy

Symptoms

Hair thinning is different from that of male pattern baldness. In female pattern baldness:
  • Hair thins mainly on the top and crown of the scalp. It usually starts with a widening through the center hair part.
  • The front hairline remains
  • The hair loss rarely progresses to total or near total baldness, as it may in men
Itching or skin sores on the scalp are generally NOT seen.

Exams and Tests

Female pattern baldness is usually diagnosed based on:
  • Ruling out other causes of hair loss
  • The appearance and pattern of hair loss
  • Your medical history
Our doctor  @cosmoworldclinics  will examine you for other signs of too much male hormone (androgen), such as:
  • Abnormal new hair growth, such as on the face or between the belly button and pubic area.
  • Changes in menstrual periods and enlargement of the clitoris
  • New acne
A skin biopsy or other procedures or blood tests may be used to diagnose skin disorders that cause hair loss.

When to seek medical advice for hair loss ???

To some individuals, they view their hair as their greatest asset. To people who are suffering from hair loss, this is not the case. As opposed to being a source of pride and self-esteem, this very issue serves as an aspect that decreases their self-confidence and brings embarrassment to them.
People who experience more volume of hair loss on a regular basis should think about pursuing medical guidance. Going to the doctor about this is really important not simply to find out what causes it but also to ensure that there is no other related difficulty in addition to with the extreme hair loss.

Risk factors involved in hair loss

Beside from heredity, people who are enduring from terminal illnesses such as cancer and auto immune diseases such as those connected with thyroid also have greater threats for hair loss because the disease on their own weaken the immune system and affect hair growth. Taking in medications and medical treatment for certain illnesses and conditions also raises the risk to hair loss as well as alopecia areata, which may cause permanent baldness brought about by stress as well as other infections in the surroundings.

People who do not pay attention to suitable health and nutrition also have higher risks for hair loss especially those who are low in protein intake.  People who change hairstyles often and those who use too much hair treatments may also undergo temporary hair loss.
When medical advice is needed ??
The doctor will give you thorough consultation , will guide you about what causes your extreme hair loss.Might be some tests will be conducted and once all the tests have been made, she or he will then explain your condition and will try to give you medicine or offer you treatments for temporary hair loss. Since no treatment can cure permanent hair loss such as those caused by heredity and medical conditions, the doctor can give you choices to at least reduce down the rate of hair loss.
@cosmoworldclinics can guide you in better way and help you meet your realistic expectations.. For more CALL - 9643636652

Is Hair Transplant a permanent solution to your baldness !!!

Permanent hair loss deserves a permanent solutionHair loss is extremely common and is something that almost everyone is likely to experience at a period of their life. Hair loss can occur for a variety of different reasons, such as alopecia, aging, and stress. As there are different causes of hair loss, there are also a variety of treatments.
Some types of hair loss, such as stress related hair loss, will resume the normal growth phase after a few months, and will, in most cases, need no medical attention. However, other types of hair loss such as Androgenetic alopecia and non pattern hairloss will need to be treated to prompt regrowth. In some cases this can be done through medication or through FUE HAIR TRANSPLANT Method.
HAIR TRANSPLANT :-

A hair transplant is a medical procedure used to treat hair loss and balding. It is a technique that moves individual hair follicles from one area of the head, the donor site – typically the sides or the back of the head – to either a bald or balding area of the head, the recipient site. The transplant works by taking hair follicles from areas of the scalp that have fuller hair and moves them to areas that have either none, or much less hair. Hair transplants are procedures to remedy baldness by moving a person’s existing hair to an area with thin or no hair. Currently, there are two methods of hair transplants: follicular unit srip surgery ( FUT ) and follicular extraction surgery( FUE ) . Both approaches are outpatient procedures typically conducted in the doctor’s office.
Hair transplants are considered permanent, which makes it important to find an experienced surgeon, Because the transplanted hair is obtained from the back of the scalp, where the hair is genetically more durable, the hairline design and the planting of the grafts must be planned with an artist’s eye and the future in mind. Hair transplants can be effective treatments for permanent hair loss. But as with any procedure, it’s important to discuss all of your options and potential outcomes with your doctor.
The results from a hair transplant are extremely long lasting and one of the most successful treatments for hair loss. The hair transplant will follow the behaviour of where the hair came from, this will in most cases mean the hair should continue to grow, as it did in the donor area.
During your personal consultation,  At COSMOWORLDCLINICS ,we will ensure you are a suitable candidate for a hair transplant and investigate into your age, family history of hair loss and type of hair loss to ensure our treatment is right for you and  will do every possible effort  to ensure the treatment works as effective as possible.

DIET TO PREVENT HAIRLOSS !!!

Some dietary modifications can help you keep your hair healthy and strong. Have a look at some of the options :-

CARROTS -  It's not just the eyes, Vitamin A-rich carrots provide excellent nourishment for the scalp. A healthy scalp ensures shiny, well-conditioned hair that is strengthened and moisturized.  An overall balanced diet of lean proteins, fruits, and vegetables, whole grains, legumes, fatty fish like the Indian salmon and low-fat dairy are great boosters for healthy hair.

OATS - Not only are oats loaded with fiber that helps maintain a healthy heart and bowels, they also contain a high concentration of other essential nutrients such as zinc, iron and omega-6 fatty acids.

GREEN PEAS - Although green peas are not rich in antioxidants or any specific vitamin or mineral, they contain a well-balanced amount of vitamins and minerals such as iron, zinc and B group vitamins. These are essential for maintaining healthy hair.

WALNUTS- walnuts are one of the most hair friendly nuts in the category. Not only do walnuts have more omega-6 fatty acids than any other food, but they're also full of zinc, iron, B vitamins (B1, B6 and B9).

LOW-FAT DAIRY PRODUCTS - Low-fat dairy products like skim milk and yogurt are great sources of calcium, an important mineral for hair growth. They also contain whey and casein, two high-quality protein sources. Add a cup of yogurt or cottage cheese to your snack list and to help prevent hair loss, stir in a few tablespoons of flax seed or walnuts for your required dose of omega 3 fatty acids and zinc.

CAN MEDITATION TREAT HAIR LOSS ???

Suffering from losing hair or thinning hair is stressful. Excessive worrying and stress can contribute to increased anxiety resulting in more hair loss. Meditation may be an effective hair loss treatment for both men and women. By creating an outlet, meditation can help to reduce the body’s response to tension and stress.

Meditation improves thought processes, increases energy, reduces stress and tension, and restores your hormonal balance. If stress causes hair loss, it would seem that the reduction of stress would reverse the loss. If only it were that simple. Some hair loss may be related to stress, and, in some cases, it is possible that hair loss could be reversed. But it depends upon the type of hair loss. There is a generally accepted link between high levels of stress and hair loss. Those two types of hair loss that can be associated with high stress levels.

  • Telogen Effluvium: The most common form, this type results in faster than normal hair loss all over your head
  • Alopecia Areata: This usually involves patchy hair loss, and bald patches approximately the size of a quarter. In extreme cases, alopecia areata may affect all the hair on a person's head, including eyebrows and eyelashes.
MEDITATION THERAPY FOR HAIR LOSS:-

Most cases of stress related hair loss can be reversed. A simple treatment, meditation has shown to reduce stress in both men and women. In as little as five to ten minutes of mediation practiced daily can help to reset your emotions, calm your mind, and reduced stress levels, may even help to reduce hair loss as stress and hair loss are inter-related. You can try out some small exercises :-

  • Set aside time each day for practice - start small, in three to five minute time slots.
  • Focus on deep breathing
  • Stretch your muscles to begin the process of looking inward
  • Let thoughts simply float out of your mind and focus on your breathing
These small exercises can relieve you from stress and ultimately improving hair growth.. For more regrowth treatment options..call our experts now..9643636652 or visit www.cosmoworldclinics.com

AVOID GREASY HAIRS !!!

1. Wash your hair frequently but not every day-  Daily washing may cause the oils to be stripped too quickly, encouraging them to come back as even oilier to make up for the loss. If you have naturally greasy hair, it's recommended that you only wash it every 2-3 days.

2. Be careful with conditioners - Avoid using them at the root as this part of the hair is already moisturized by the natural oils (grease) produced within hours of washing your hair. A conditioner is actually meant to nourish the drier ends anyway, so try to keep its use just for the lower half of your hair.

3. Be choosy about the styling products you use. Don't use too much or you'll weigh your hair down and residue could accumulate. Stay away from gloppy gels, because they will make your hair look greasy when it's not.

4. Brush only as much as needed to make your hair neat. Do not over-brush your hair as brushing is stimuli to the oil glands and this is likely to increase oil production.

5. Avoid touching or brushing your hair as much as possible. This is important especially after eating or preparing greasy foods, as you might transfer the food oils into your hair. The same with oily makeup––pin your hair back of your face before applying the makeup and don't touch your hair with fingers covered in makeup. Keep your hair neat without touching it too much also––use a comb to remove tangles, not your fingers.

4. Cut split ends off your hair regularly. This will help to keep your hair from becoming more damaged and it will appear thicker and stronger.

5. Blow dry your hair off your forehead. Your forehead can be an oily skin zone, so keeping hair off your forehead will help to ensure that it doesn't absorb the oils from your skin.

6. Do not straighten your hair regularly. Straightening the hair really damages it, both through heat or chemical processes. The heat from the straighteners makes your hair produce grease, and since you'll be touching your hair to straighten it, this risks producing more grease.

Functions of Hair Follicle

Hair is the only body part of human beings that can be changed to influence social interaction and plays important role in body's defence mechanism. Apart from the biological function that hair has, like protection from elements and distribution of sweat glands, hair also plays an important psycho emotional role in the lives of humans. Hair in mammals is composed of the hair follicle and the hair shaft.  The hair follicle is formed as a small finger like structure from the embryonic epidermis. The follicles in different parts of the body are different and produce hair fibers of different size, shape and color. The fibers are coarse when they form the body hair or scalp hair. These are known as terminal hair. The finer downy hair on the face is known as vellus hair.

Functions of the hair follicle

The main function of the hair follicle is to produce a hair shaft or fiber. The shaft is the physically visible portion of the hair and plays a significant role both biologically and psychologically.
The hair shaft is composed of three parts – the cuticle, the cortex and the medulla. The cuticle is a single row of cells, which forms the outermost layer of the shaft. The cortex forms the bulk of the hair. This contains melanin, which is responsible for hair pigmentation. The medulla is the central portion of terminal hairs.

Hair responds to external stimuli and any movement of the fiber is picked up by the follicle to transmit a message to the nervous system.

Hair also plays a part in controlling the body heat by providing insulation against sudden heat loss or gain.

The hair follicle often acts as a sensory organ for the skin. Mechanical stimuli above the skin are detected by the skin and when the hair moves even slightly, neuroreceptors in the follicles transmit a message to the nervous system.

Hair follicles often play the role of key mediators of stress signaling through sensitivity to and synthesis of neuroendocrine activities.
