IS HAIR TRANSPLANT SURGERY PAINFUL ???

The hair transplant  procedure is done on an outpatient basis and can typically take from four to eight hours. While the procedure is extremely convenient, it is a surgical procedure nevertheless and consequently some discomfort can be expected. Before the procedure takes place, the patient will receive a local anesthetic, and they may feel a slight pricking sensation. Soon afterwards the anesthetic numbs the skin, relieving any sensation throughout the procedure. Once the local anaesthesia administration is done, its effect will be seen within some minutes. If we talk about the recovery period , healing can seen within 2-3 days .

In terms of recovery, patients may experience tenderness, redness, and mild pain for a few days afterwards and may need to take pain (anti-inflammmatory) medication to alleviate post-procedural symptoms which are minor. However, these are generally mild enough that patients are able to return to work within a day or two, at most. Following post-procedure instructions during the first few weeks of healing will help minimize any discomfort following the hair transplant procedure.

Two to three weeks after transplantation, the introduced hair falls out, but this will be replaced by new hair growth. Six to nine months after the procedure, most patients will have realized 60% of new hair growth. By a year, most patients will realize full hair re-growth. They can cut, color and easily maintain their transplanted hairs the way they want to , just some instructions need to be followed up for some time  once the transplant is done.
If you are looking for this opportunity of getting your natural hairs back, we recommend you to set up your appointment @cosmoworldclinics which will guide you to the best solutions for your hair loss.

DIET TO PREVENT HAIRLOSS !!!

Some dietary modifications can help you keep your hair healthy and strong. Have a look at some of the options :-

CARROTS -  It's not just the eyes, Vitamin A-rich carrots provide excellent nourishment for the scalp. A healthy scalp ensures shiny, well-conditioned hair that is strengthened and moisturized.  An overall balanced diet of lean proteins, fruits, and vegetables, whole grains, legumes, fatty fish like the Indian salmon and low-fat dairy are great boosters for healthy hair.

OATS - Not only are oats loaded with fiber that helps maintain a healthy heart and bowels, they also contain a high concentration of other essential nutrients such as zinc, iron and omega-6 fatty acids.

GREEN PEAS - Although green peas are not rich in antioxidants or any specific vitamin or mineral, they contain a well-balanced amount of vitamins and minerals such as iron, zinc and B group vitamins. These are essential for maintaining healthy hair.

WALNUTS- walnuts are one of the most hair friendly nuts in the category. Not only do walnuts have more omega-6 fatty acids than any other food, but they're also full of zinc, iron, B vitamins (B1, B6 and B9).

LOW-FAT DAIRY PRODUCTS - Low-fat dairy products like skim milk and yogurt are great sources of calcium, an important mineral for hair growth. They also contain whey and casein, two high-quality protein sources. Add a cup of yogurt or cottage cheese to your snack list and to help prevent hair loss, stir in a few tablespoons of flax seed or walnuts for your required dose of omega 3 fatty acids and zinc.

ALL ABOUT RECEDING HAIRLINE !!!

Receding hairline is a type of progressive hair loss mainly experienced by men and some women where your hairline will begin to thin commonly on either sides of your forehead before you get a bald patch on top of your head. It is one of the classes of hair loss in men, a condition popularly known as androgenic alopecia or male pattern baldness. It is characterized by a widow's peak where your front forehead forms a V shape pattern.

Although the problem is common in older men (above 25 years of age), receding hairline can be seen in younger people including teenagers. If your hair line is receding at young age, it might be a pre-disposition to hair loss, which is caused by genetics or associated with a certain autoimmune response. Some signs of hair loss can be noticed, you will have hair loss above your temples that often form a letter M shape where the middle and side hairs remain while you lose lateral hairs on your forehead. This is the initial stage of receding hairline. With time, you will begin having hair loss on top of your head but this might depend on the causes of a receding hairline.

To some people, they need to tilt their head to be able to see their hairlines and in some extreme cases, it might form a horseshoe shape where your scalp center remains bare with only hair on the back and sides of your head. You will therefore notice pronounced and high temples when your hairline is receding.

Finally, when you are suffering from this condition, you will notice more hair collecting on your water tub, each time you wash your head. More hair can also be seen on your comb and hair brush. On average, people should lose up to 100 strands of hair every day during brushing, combing, etc. and this is considered normal.

What can be the causes ??

Genes – Inherited Factors

Excessive and Continued Production of Dihydrotestosterone (DHT)

Age

Environmental Factors – Stress

Medications and Chemotherapy

Poor Eating Habits

Preventing and treating hair loss in females

Female-pattern hair loss, which usually has a strong genetic component that can be inherited from either the mother or father. Also referred to as androgenetic alopecia, this type of hair loss can start as early as the late teens- and the earlier it starts, the more severe the hair loss tends to be.

Most women with pattern hair loss don't get a receding hairline or bald spot on top of the scalp as is common in men. Instead, there is visible thinning over the crown. In men and women, hairs are miniaturized because of a shortened growth cycle where the hair stays on the head for a shorter period of time.

The first sign of hair loss that most women notice is often widening of their part or that their ponytail is smaller.

How this hair loss can be treated ???

Minoxidil 5% is the only topical medication approved by the FDA for female-pattern hair loss. The once daily use foam treatment regrows hair in 81% of the women who try it.
Liquid options of 2% and 5% solutions are available over the counter. Minoxidil works by prolonging the growth phase of hair -- providing more time for hair to grow out to its full density.
Hair loss treatments are available - LASER AND MESOTHERAPY  PLATELET RICH PLASMA (PRP ) THERAPY.
Another treatment option is HAIR TRANSPLANTATION, in which tiny hair follicles taken from one area of the scalp are transplanted into the affected areas. It can be very effective and produce permanent results that are natural looking.

Your hair thickness, density, and  follicular growth are analysed to detect any anomalies at their early stage of development.

In depth analysis of the reasons for hairloss ; with an - all round assessment of your scalp condition , lifestyle, nutrition , you will have a better understanding of the causes of your hairloss and the preventive steps moving forward.

Seeking early treatment even when the signs are not visible and is crucial to curb a developing hair condition, and attain a higher chance of hair retention.

Hair loss is just like any other health condition. Besides prevention being better than a cure, you’ll have a higher chance of recovering from your ailments by getting a diagnosis and treatment during the early stages of a condition. Early intervention helps in identifying and treating the cause of retracting hair, whether lifestyle, hereditary or environmentally.

As hair condition worsens with time, the more your treatment options continue to dwindle with each passing day that you ignore hair loss signs. IS RECEDING HAIRLINE A PROBLEM ???

Aging brings a number of diseases and complaints and hair loss and baldness is one of them. Hair loss is more common in men as compared to women. The majority of people suffer from noticeable hair loss when they are in their 30s and this loss becomes serious as they go over 50 years old. As they enter their middle age, the thinning of hair begins turning into baldness and it is very upsetting to see your hairline receding day by day,it lowers down your self confidence. Through this post we will focus on receding hairlines in female and males as well as their causes...

RECEDING HAIRLINE IN MALES-

n men, this change is more noticeable as men have short hair and their hairline is easily differentiable. Mostly a man’s receding hairline is noticed by his friends earlier than himself.
Have regular check on your hairline for any gaps of hair on your scalp. Center part your hair and pull hair down to reveal your scalp and see if somewhere the gap is widened than before. If that is the case, it is clear indication of thinning of hair that can lead to receding hairline.
RECEDING HAIR LINE IN FEMALES-

Women can only notice the problem with thinning of hair as they rarely go bald so usually they don’t experience receding hairline. Thinning of hair can be extremely annoying for women as every woman loves her hair.
There are only two ways to detect the problem and one is to keep an eye on your hair tie like if you need another loop of the same hair band to secure your hair, it means that you have gradual hair loss.
Similarly check your hair brush regularly after every brushing session, if you daily see a lot of hair entangled in the brush, it is a clear sign of hair loss. Plus after every wash, there will be more hair seen on bathroom floor or in the bath tub when you are experiencing above average hair fall.
WHAT CAN BE THE CAUSES ???
  • There are several factors that contribute to receding hairline. Male pattern baldness is called androgenic alopecia and it originates through the production of dihydrotestosterone that shrinks the hair follicles by sticking to them.
  • Some people are genetically prone to baldness and any side of the family can be responsible for this hair loss.
  • Stress can also be a factor that causes receding hairline.
  • Receding hairline can occur as a result of taking drugs, alcohol, having gone through a trauma or surgery, being slowly poisoned, after effects of childbirth.
  • One of the main causes of receding hairline in women is the reduction of their estrogen levels. Similarly men can experience more hair fall when their testosterone levels decrease and that is why this problem is associated with ageing
  • Receding hairline in men and women can be a side effect of medicines of blood pressure, heart disease, depression, cholesterol, and gout.

AVOID GREASY HAIRS !!!

1. Wash your hair frequently but not every day-  Daily washing may cause the oils to be stripped too quickly, encouraging them to come back as even oilier to make up for the loss. If you have naturally greasy hair, it's recommended that you only wash it every 2-3 days.

2. Be careful with conditioners - Avoid using them at the root as this part of the hair is already moisturized by the natural oils (grease) produced within hours of washing your hair. A conditioner is actually meant to nourish the drier ends anyway, so try to keep its use just for the lower half of your hair.

3. Be choosy about the styling products you use. Don't use too much or you'll weigh your hair down and residue could accumulate. Stay away from gloppy gels, because they will make your hair look greasy when it's not.

4. Brush only as much as needed to make your hair neat. Do not over-brush your hair as brushing is stimuli to the oil glands and this is likely to increase oil production.

5. Avoid touching or brushing your hair as much as possible. This is important especially after eating or preparing greasy foods, as you might transfer the food oils into your hair. The same with oily makeup––pin your hair back of your face before applying the makeup and don't touch your hair with fingers covered in makeup. Keep your hair neat without touching it too much also––use a comb to remove tangles, not your fingers.

4. Cut split ends off your hair regularly. This will help to keep your hair from becoming more damaged and it will appear thicker and stronger.

5. Blow dry your hair off your forehead. Your forehead can be an oily skin zone, so keeping hair off your forehead will help to ensure that it doesn't absorb the oils from your skin.

6. Do not straighten your hair regularly. Straightening the hair really damages it, both through heat or chemical processes. The heat from the straighteners makes your hair produce grease, and since you'll be touching your hair to straighten it, this risks producing more grease.

Functions of Hair Follicle

Hair is the only body part of human beings that can be changed to influence social interaction and plays important role in body's defence mechanism. Apart from the biological function that hair has, like protection from elements and distribution of sweat glands, hair also plays an important psycho emotional role in the lives of humans. Hair in mammals is composed of the hair follicle and the hair shaft.  The hair follicle is formed as a small finger like structure from the embryonic epidermis. The follicles in different parts of the body are different and produce hair fibers of different size, shape and color. The fibers are coarse when they form the body hair or scalp hair. These are known as terminal hair. The finer downy hair on the face is known as vellus hair.

Functions of the hair follicle

The main function of the hair follicle is to produce a hair shaft or fiber. The shaft is the physically visible portion of the hair and plays a significant role both biologically and psychologically.
The hair shaft is composed of three parts – the cuticle, the cortex and the medulla. The cuticle is a single row of cells, which forms the outermost layer of the shaft. The cortex forms the bulk of the hair. This contains melanin, which is responsible for hair pigmentation. The medulla is the central portion of terminal hairs.

Hair responds to external stimuli and any movement of the fiber is picked up by the follicle to transmit a message to the nervous system.

Hair also plays a part in controlling the body heat by providing insulation against sudden heat loss or gain.

The hair follicle often acts as a sensory organ for the skin. Mechanical stimuli above the skin are detected by the skin and when the hair moves even slightly, neuroreceptors in the follicles transmit a message to the nervous system.

Hair follicles often play the role of key mediators of stress signaling through sensitivity to and synthesis of neuroendocrine activities.

UNCOMBABLE HAIR SYNDROME

Uncombable hair syndrome  is a rare disorder of the hair shaft of the scalp. It is usually characterized by silvery-blond or straw-colored hair that is disorderly; stands out from the scalp; and cannot be combed flat. It may first become apparent from 3 months of age to 12 years of age. The syndrome has been found to be caused by mutations in the genes . These  genes code for proteins that are involved in hair shaft formation. The syndrome appears to be inherited in an autosomal recessive  fashion

Signs and symptoms of uncombable hair syndrome

Uncombable hair syndrome may first become apparent any time between the ages of 3 months and 12 years. It only affects the scalp hair. The quantity of hair remains normal, but the hair often grows slowly.Over time the hair becomes progressively silvery-blond or straw-colored; dry and disordered (standing out and growing in different directions); and unmanageable to comb flat. In some cases, constant efforts to groom the hair lead to breakage, but increased fragility is not a constant feature of the condition. In later childhood, there is usually a considerable amount of spontaneous improvement.

Uncombable hair syndrome diagnosis

A diagnosis of uncombable hair syndrome  is made by observing the characteristic symptoms of the condition, as well observing the hair shaft under a special microscope. When the individual hair strands are viewed under a microscope, the hair is either triangular or kidney-shaped on cross section, and has a canal-like longitudinal groove along one or two faces.

 Uncombable hair syndrome be treatment

There is no definitive treatment for uncombable hair syndrome, but the condition usually improves or resolves on its own with the onset of puberty. Gentle hair care is generally recommended using conditioners and soft brushes, along with avoiding harsh hair treatments such as permanent waves (perms); chemical relaxants; or excessive brushing and blow drying.Another strategy that has been suggested to improve the appearance of the hair is the use of biotin supplements.

Healthy and beautiful hair starts with a healthy scalp…

Healthy and beautiful hair starts with a healthy scalp…

It’s logical, isn’t it? This is why it’s extremely important to take a great care of your scalp.

Here is one easy tip: never apply a hair conditioner to the roots of your hair! Not only it will cause the loss of volume and your hair might get oily very quickly, but also, some hair conditioners contain waxes and silicons and, if you apply them to your scalp on a regular basis, it can prevent the skin on your head from breathing and clog pores.

Conclusion: apply your hair conditioner only on the length of your hair.
